Thanks for these interesting ‘flash’ posts. Amy. I was interested in your reference to Van der Kolk’s work. It’s a bit of a sidestep, but I wondered if you’d also come across one of his associates, Johann Hari, and his writing on how our attention and ability to think is affected by the prevalence of social media. He contends that we need an attention movement to reclaim our minds. The link I’m making to your post is the effect on memory of having a ‘state of flow’ constantly interrupted. Hi Caroline - that's a fascinating point re. the impact of social media - perhaps not only on our ability to concentrate - but on memory too. Will be interested to see if anyone takes that specific research further. I do know Hari's work, though not this specific article which I will read with interest.
